Biography
In 2000, at the age of 20, having known each other for years before, Iain Crummie (Crum - Singer/Songwriter/Guitar and the bloke on the right in the picture) and Iain Willis (Will - Co-songwriter/ lead guitar on Counting Pennies) sat on Will's balcony overlooking the River Tees and penned the first track on this EP 'Counting Pennies' and that's really where this project started.
We then threw the technical know-how of Crum's step-brother Darren Coleman (Dazza - how imaginitive) into the mix. A computer nut who was not only silly enough to let Crum come and live with him (an action which in itself deserves a mention on this site), but then sat for hours and hours bored silly, listening to Crum get that opening riff to Counting Pennies wrong again and again and again and AGAIN. And THEN agreed to give up his evenings to programme this wonderful sleek and stylish website that you now see before you! Definitely deserves a medal!
We've then been lucky enough to add the artistic skills of a Japanese photography student and former housemate of Crum and Will in London named Ishino Chihiro (Chihi) The incredibly cool image on the right is there thanks to a 6 hour day spent in the freezing cold in the City in London, with poor Chihi clicking her fingers telling Crum (not the most naturally gifted at modelling) where to look then wandering down Brick Lane...looking for a yellow wall that just wasn't there! Thanks Chihi.
So how does it all work?...Well Crum sings/writes performs and generally promotes the songs, whilst his brother listens to him do all the above, occassionally pressing the record button and maintaining this website. Will is the co-songwriter on a number of the songs and is working on his own project, Orlo Tonne. Chihi (www.myspace.com/chihi) is the extremely talented photographer who takes the imagery.
So please take into consideration whilst wandering around the site that although the songs are the main part of this project, there are a number of contributors, so please click on their links and have a look at their respective works as that's what this project is about. A group of people all struggling to achieve their goals, helping each other out in any which way they can and for that I must say a big, huge MASSIVE THANK YOU! If you would like to become part of the reckless general or would like any of its members to help you out in anything you may be doing please do not hesitate to contact us.
